I’ve been e-mailing back and forth with a possible new recruit for our team. I have noticed that she uses a lot of exclamation points. And by a lot, I mean a lot!!!
And she uses them mid-sentence as well. As in, I am coming!!! to practice!! this week hopefully!!!
I thought at first, she’s just excited to join the team. But ensuing e-mails have also proved just as exclamatory. I mean, exclamatory!!!
Now, I actually met this recruit at a team event a month ago and she seemed quite normal and not prone to over exclamation. No wildly throttling arms or crazy smiles. No incredibly excited conversation either.
I keep thinking perhaps it is just an e-mail bug from her account to mine, throwing in some junk code. But I’m beginning to think she just really likes the exclamation point key. A lot!!!
Hmm … I hope she comes to practice, but I’d like to see if this continues into normal conversation. Practice!!!
I tell ya, the world is wacky sometimes.

Just curious, how old is she? Because I’ve noticed the new grew-up-on-texting generation has a definitely different style of writing.
I grew up with Mrs. Thistlebottom’s rules. The “O” in my user name stands for “old.”
🙂 !!!!
I believe she is my age – late 20s – so that doesn’t really apply.
And don’t even get me started on people who can’t write without abbreviations from text messaging.
