• In the Midwest D-2 Women’s Championships, Katy’s blogging that Pittsburgh beat Detroit and the Minneapolis Menagerie to win the Midwest Championships, but I have no other scores yet. Will updated as I find them. Congrats to Katy and all of the Angels!

• An e-mail updated from Lisa on the Eastern Penn Collegiate Playoffs –

Hey Blondie – here’s info on the Eastern Penn Collegiate Playoffs for next weekend!

Today with Temples 15-0 defeat of The College of New Jersey, EPRUs DII Playoff seeds for next week are set.

In DI, Westchester is on top, with Princeton at two and Delaware at three.

In DII, a league restructuring saw the previous 16 team division split into Red and White Divisions, with the Red Division winners moving on to MARFU Championships.

In Red Div Bracket A, last years EPRU champions Kutztown sit at the top, 3-0 at the end of league play. MARFU U-23 players Kerryn Winnesky and Mary Merlot lead the charge for Kutztown. In Div B, Temple takes the top honors. Despite the loss of 7 starting players to graduation and injuries to powerhouse #8 Samanth Mosser and young upstart center Carrie Stolfzus, the Owls dominated a very tough College of New Jersey team to a 15-0 finish. Led by captain and fullback Lindsay Fleishman (photo attached), and mobile, dangerous hooker Allison Heiss, Temple goes into EPRU playoffs hungry for another run at nationals. Sophmore flanker Jess Needham put in an outstanding performance, with more than a few level 3 tackles to her credit.

Next weekend Princeton and Westchester playoff for seedings at the MARFU D1 playoffs. In DII, Temple faces Shippensburg and Kutztown faces TCNJ in what
should prove to be an exciting confrontation.

• And sadly, rugby in Madison is done for the season, as our men’s team lost their playoff game to the Chicago Blaze this Saturday in Chicago, 35-16. Pinkie, Distin, my cousin Celeste and I braved the tornado winds to cheer on our boys and then we later warmed up at the Cheesecake Factory with some lunch. Now everybody gets to rest and soon we’ll start our Monkey Bar glasses to get ready for the spring.

Other Scores? Please share them. And send in your recaps of sweet 16s!
