The Philadelphia Women shutdown the Chicago Women 53-0 in Chicago to claim the Midwest’s fourth seed for the
Northeast Mid-Atlantic (MARFU). You can see photos by Katie here. I used a nice one with this post. I took a few of my own, but Katie’s got some better up-close shots and fun social pics.
Katie says “It was a beautiful day for rugby, and we enjoyed it tremendously. Even those of us who were just there for moral support had a wonderful time. Thank you to Chicago for a good game and a great social afterwards.”
Out west, the ORSU Women edged Belmont Shore 21-17 to keep the Pacific Coast’s third seed, while Southern California remains seedless.
Toni says “A major bummer for SoCal, but a huge sigh of relief for Pacific Coast. It was a great game, back and forth. Belmont Shore has very tough/fit forwards, but could not make any significant breaks in the back line. ORSU’s forwards had a tough day in the scrums and lineouts, but in the end, the ORSU backline dominated Belmont and ORSU’s fullback ran in 3 tries, all of which where converted. In the end, it was the conversions that won the game. ORSU 21, Belmont Shore 17.”
Update: Thanks to Angie from the Philly Women for the Union clarification.
