USA Rugby Seeks Emerging Sports Manager
Jan, 25 2006, Boulder, Colo. – Women’s rugby is currently on the NCAA’s list of emerging sports. USA Rugby seeks a qualified employee to coordinate its efforts to promote women’s rugby as a varsity sport in colleges and universities in the United States. The goal is to promote enough programs to varsity status to qualify for an NCAA Championship in women’s rugby. This position is for a candidate with entry to mid-level experience and will report to USA Rugby’s Director of Membership Relations. Salary will commensurate with experience. Requirements for this position include, but are not limited to:

1) Research, develop and implement plans for emerging sports programs
2) Develop and deliver promotional material to athletic directors, potential varsity programs, and other organizations
3) Operate as liaison to collegiate professional conferences and organizations such as NCAA, NACWAA, NACDA and WSF
4) Support and promote existing varsity programs
5) Educate and provide resources to existing USA Rugby membership about varsity status and Title IX
6) Mobilize and organize volunteer support
7) Work with youth development representatives to develop high school women’s rugby and promote collegiate club and varsity participation
8) Perform other tasks as directed, including support of the women’s game

Qualifications & Abilities:
1) Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
2) Experience in sales, marketing, public relations and/or professional or non-profit sports organizations
3) Demonstrated understanding of Title IX as it relates to NCAA athletics
4) Ability to communicate clearly and effectively
5) Excellent writing and presentation skills
6) Ability to manage projects
7) Success in planning meetings and events
8) Playing and/or administrative experience in rugby is helpful, but not required
9) Willingness to travel, including weekends
