U-19 Eagles Update from Coach Bryn Chivers

Bryn sent me a nice e-mail yesterday updating us all on what’s happening with the younger Eagle women’s rugby team … Thanks Bryn!

Just love the blog.

Here is a quick update on the USA U19 WNT 2006 Tour…….coming to a town near you.

In the middle of March we were at the U19 Nash Bash and it was a great event with some wonderful rugby. A big shout out to Annie Antar and Sheri Hunt who made this a fun trip. This weekend we were in Colorado Springs and got see some good players from Colorado, New Mexico and California. Karl Barth and Dustin George put together a solid event and we came away with some players who will definitely make the 2006 Squad. The tour rolls on next week when we are in Olympia, Washington on the 8th. We follow this with Philadelphia on the 15th and Milwaukee on the 22nd………HELLO WISCONSIN!!!!!!

Numbers are good at these events but we encourage coaches to send more players……especially the college coaches. Players are eligible for the USA U19 Women’s National Team if they were born on or after January 1st 1987. They can be high school, college or club players but must be CIPP’d and meet the age requirement.

We have a great ten day event in June (5th – 15th) that will include two games as part of the USA U23 NASC and we follow this with two Internationals against the Canada U19 National Team who are probably the #1 team in the world at the moment. The first of the Canada games will be the curtain raiser to the USA WNT V Canada Women game.

We have seen some really good players but the squad is not set and there are still spots up for grabs, Here are the contacts for the upcoming camps………it’s not too late to sign up =)

April 8th Olympia, WA.
A one day camp hosted by Washington Youth Rugby and more information will be posted at http://www.washingtonyouthrugby.com/
Contact Alex Goff to register alex@goffonrugby.com

April 15th Philadelphia, PA.
A one day camp hosted by West Chester University.
Contact Rachel Flynn to register flynn.rachel@gmail.com

April 22nd Milwaukee, WI.
A one day camp in conjunction with the Midwest U19 Camp.
Contact John Klein to register chinnychinchin_2000@yahoo.com

Players who are unable to attend a camp may still be considered for the team on the recommendation from their coach supported by a good quality video/dvd.

Hope all is well in dairyland.

Bryn Chivers
Head Coach, USA U19 Women’s National Team

If any readers have contacts with potential U-19 players for the Eagles, please be sure to pass on this information. We’re all on the same team.

I’m supposed to be helping out with our Wisconsin U-19 program, so hopefully I’ll be able to fit in an appearance at the Milwaukee camp to help out. Fun.

Hi, My name Ashley Sauck and i was one of the girls selected to play on the U-19 USA Womens National Team! I was scouted out at the end of march early April while i was playing in a match in Colorado Springs against Colorado College (I play for Univ. of Northern Colo). I had no idea i was being taped and a couple weeks later i received an E-mail from Bryn. I am REALY excited to train and play for such a team! And very excited to meet my team-mates as well!
